I want to start off this by saying that I actually promised the owner I'd write this review so yes, it's actually THAT good. My family and I are from Chicago and we were staying here in Vancouver for summer vacation. I saw this restaurant on here and we were staying at an airbnb about 10 mins away so we thought "why not?". I don't regret a single thing about this decision. I got some chicken pakora and garlic naan as apps and they were amazing! The naan wasn't overloaded with garlic and the pakora was perfectly fried. You can usually tell how good an Indian restaurant is by its sweet lassi and lemme tell you: this is one of the best sweet lassis I've ever had. For entrees, we got butter chicken, bindhi, and tandoori fish. My mom is from Amritsar and she says that this bindhi is better than her mom's! (but yknow, she can't tell her that) We were about ready to pack up and leave but the owner came over and we told him about how good the food was. Amazing man! He told us about how he opened this place up in the 80s and nobody liked Indian food back then but now they do. And he was also on an Indian cooking show! He was so nice, we got free galub jamuns and garlic naan on the house. He also is the chef (wow!) and told us the butter chicken has no dyes and the color is naturally produced by the spices. You know this place is legit when the butter chicken is not creamy and just the perfect consistency and not too orange or red or tomato-y. It's really heartwarming to see somebody who is so proud of their work. He reminds me a lot of my grandpa, who is the type of guy who would never stop working even if his legs ran off without him.
I HIGHLY recommend this place if you're anywhere near here. Scratch that, I recommend this place to anybody who comes to this side of Canada. I had a wonderful experience and I guarantee you will too. It's going to be very hard for me to go back to Chicago now. -

Went to a big party at this restaurant. The staff were friendly and service was excellent. Our server was attentive . The food was very good. I especially enjoyed the butter chicken. It was delicious . The fish pakoras were good but could have been a tad bit crispier. We were stuffed by the end of the night.

The owner was super friendly and did take care off all our needs and gave good suggestions what to order from the menu. Food was super delicious (no complaints at all) and the ambiance off the restaurant was good. Spice level was good and tasted fresh and good. The owner even gave us few samples of in house desserts and we liked the gesture. We sure will visit again and they did made us feel at home.
SUPERB SERVICE -

After a few year hiatus Chef Ricky and Ashiani are back at it again. Some of the best Indian food in Vancouver and the nicest people.

I went over to this restaurant today (Sunday). We were the only ones there. Apparently, they're packed on Saturdays. The atmosphere and decor was appropriate for the restaurant.
We ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, Butter Chicken, Plain Rice, Garlic Naan, and Gulab Jamun. For the Chicken Tikka Masala and Butter Chicken, the flavours are simple and clean. They weren't heavy but light in taste and didn't leave a heavy feeling in your stomach after the meal. We had asked for medium spicy, but it wasn't spicy. The owner dropped by and I had told him about it. He said that it's to ensure you can actually taste the flavour of the dish rather than be overwhelmed by the chili. He said that he aims for simple and clean flavours in his dishes.
As for the Garlic Naan, it was very light in terms of oil and had fresh garlic on it. It was fresh out of the even each time and it was nice and crispy. The Gulab Jamun was sweet and had a taste of ginger. Was my first time having the dessert here - I enjoyed it.
Overall, even though I'm stuffed... I don't feel like I'm going to pass out at the moment. Usually if I stuff myself silly with Indian food (usually the lunch specials), you're ready for a nap. Anyway, the food was good and I'd definitely go back.
